Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much time will it take to clean my carpet?
A: Our average is approximately 20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on how dirty the carpet is, the amount of furniture to be moved, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

Q: Will water ruin my carpet?
A: Modern carpet technology is basically water-resistant, and the limited amount of water used in our cleaning process is 95% removed by a high powered vacuum.

Q: How much time will it take for my carpet to dry?
A: Drying time of a carpet is regulated by type of carpet, humidity, and air flow to the room. Depending on the time of year, air conditioning or heat will help speed the process. It typically takes between 2 and 24 hours to dry, depending on the aforementioned variables. Ceiling fans help too.

Q: I've heard that cleaning makes my carpet soil faster, so why have it cleaned?
A: Lakes Area Carpet Care uses modern cleaning methods to rinse virtually all cleaning agents out of your carpet so it will not attract dirt. This problem commonly occurs with cleaning companies that use soap, which may leave a dirt-attracting residue, or dry cleaning methods, which leave oily powder particles in your carpet to attract dirt.

Q: Do I need to move my furniture before the cleaning crew arrives?
A: No. Our crews are professionally trained to move your furniture and return it to its rightful place when cleaning is finished. We do suggest you remove any breakable items or electronics from table tops, etc.

Q: Do I need to remain home while my carpet is being cleaned?
A: It is not necessary that you be home while your carpet is cleaned because our cleaning technicians are thoroughly trained professionals you can trust in order to provide the best possible cleaning. However, we do recommend that someone is home before we begin cleaning to discuss any specific areas of concern or needs regarding the care of your carpet.

Q: Will the cleaning agents used to clean my carpet harm my children or pets?
A: Our basic cleaning solution is very similar to laundry detergent. As a general rule, keep your children and pets from playing or lying on wet carpet. Our chemicals are now environmentally friendly too.

Q: How much time do I have to wait after cleaning to let my children or pets on the carpet?
A: The carpet may be walked on with clean feet, socks or shoes while wet. Until drying is complete, activity on the carpet should be limited to this foot traffic.

Q: Is it possible to have both my area rug and the carpet that it sits on cleaned at the same time?
A: They can both be cleaned at the same time, but the area rug cannot dry over the wet carpet. The area rug must be taken to another area, such as clean concrete or dry carpet, to dry. Some rugs may have to be taken into our shop to be cleaned at no additional charge.

Q: What should I do in the event that the stains that were cleaned reappear?
A: Although most stains that are removed from carpet do not reappear, deep stains in carpet backing may wick back to the surface. If this happens, call your Lakes Area Carpet Care technician for assistance.

Q: Do you guarantee customer satisfaction?
A: We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise, thus guaranteeing your satisfaction. We will return to re-clean any or all areas that you are not satisfied with.
